A great stay in a beautiful setting.
We made the mistake of not having food with us and there is no place to eat nearby. The excellent continental breakfast in the morning featured fresh fruit grown on the property.
Beautiful building, magnificent gardens, spring fed swimming pool.

Not quite what we expected, but good
The road to get there was very rough - definitely glad to be in an SUV to clear the bumps and potholes in the road! The facilities were very simple, and seemed over priced (CASH ONLY) compared to where we stayed in Negril, right on the beach. The property and facilities are old, but fairly well maintained, although the shower in one room didn’t work. The owner was very helpful when asked, but the experience lacked a few hospitality touches that would have made it seem better value.
This property is in the more rural part of Jamaica and off the beaten track from the tourist spots. But this means you get to see a different side of Jamaica, which is pretty cool. The lack of internet and remote location means that you really feel like you switch off when you are there. We shared 2 rooms between 4 friends (double bed each), and the rooms are huge! The garden is beautiful and they have a lovely pool.

I was just unfortunate that the lady of the house had gone back to the UK for a family visit at the time I was visiting, so that I could not enjoy her great cooking talent. Consequently, I had to have my evening meals in town, which enabled me to get to know the local people and food even better which actually was a great experience.
The guesthouse is really beautiful and Berry, the owner is a very pleasant and hospitable man. The garden behind the house is a true paradise for bird lovers. Jamaican Mango and Red-billed Streamertail are enjoying the flowers and provide good photo opportunities. The three lovely dogs are adding to the wonderful atmosphere of it all.

No signs at the road side. It is a small potholed road going inland for quite a few kilometres, better to have a gps.
Very special place a bit away from the tourist trail. A beautifully restored/rebuilt colonial grand house.

Tamarind Great House Oracabessa
The road up is a bit hairy, lots of big pot holes. But it's worth the bother for the location, David Attenborough would be Happy up here.
The location cannot be beaten it's magnificent, the same can be said for the food delicious, the house is also magnificent and would be a candidate for "Grand Designs", if it were in the UK. It's homely and comfortable and welcoming. The proprietor's Barry & Gillian could not be any more hospitable than they are 10/10. PS No mosquitoes.

A beautiful property in a picturesque and historical setting.
The property details posted by Booking.com advised that there was wifi, however, this is not the case and this should be amended in the details.
My husband and myself spent a delightful 3 nights at Tamarind Great House. We were made to feel right at home from the start, when the owners welcomed us. The house is located in a tranquil spot set in the hills above Jacks River in St Mary. The views were outstanding and the owners shared a lot of information regarding the history of the property and the surrounding areas, which was especially interesting for us. We were very happy with the accommodation and with our private terrace overlooking acres of banana fields. Continental Breakfast was served on a terrace where we watched Humming birds darting here and there. It was overall a lovely 3 nights spent at Tamarind Great House and we would be happy to return at a later date.

The Staff(owners) were very pleasant. They made me feel very comfortable & they were very sociable but give me privacy when needed. A great stay a bit off the main but was great once arrived.
